KW Engineering

KW Engineering was opened in January 2004 by Ken Watters II, P.E. to provide quality structural engineering design and consultation. Ken has experience with many diverse projects including single-family homes, multi-family homes, and commercial buildings.

Before starting KW Engineering Ken worked for several different component manufacturers and, most recently, was the engineering manager for one of the mid-Atlantic regions largest turn-key framing companies. Currently, Ken is a member of the Engineering Review Board for the Structural Building Component Association and helped create the BCSI booklet, a Guide to Good Practice for Handling, Installing & Bracing of Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Truss Plate Institute (Ken previously served on their Technical Advisory Committee on truss bracing), the International Code Council, and Maryland Building Officials Association.

Ken is a 1994 graduate of Penn State University with degrees in both Structural and Mechanical Engineering. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Colorado, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Ken also has more than 30 years experience in construction and more than 20 years experience as a structural engineer. With this diverse background of field experience and formal education Ken strives to provide all clients with safe, constructible designs and repairs with respect to wood, steel, and concrete.
